Christenings - Baptisms - Baby Blessings

Congratulations on your wonderful new baby!

It is always a joy to be a part of such a special time in the life of a family. A baby is a gift of hope and promise, a continuation of the power of Life, expressed in the new little face you hold before you.

As with any other ceremony of major significance in your life, the more personal elements you include, the richer will be the experience for yourselves and for your guests. Having a ceremony that is written expressly for your child allows the hopes and dreams you have for their future to be included in a beautiful way. Whenever possible, be sure to incorporate anything that is important to you and your family for it will create an even more touching and memorable celebration.

Contact Rev. Barbara Lodge for a free consultation. Together we can create a uniquely personal ceremony that welcomes your baby into the world with charm, style and dignity.

Christenings and Baptisms

People often ask about the difference between a Christening and a Baptism. Traditionally the Baptism signified a spiritual rebirth while a Christening was a Baptism that could also include a naming of the child and/or a dedication of the child to the service of God and the Christian faith. In modern times, however, the terms have become synonymous and the ceremonies performed are generally the same. Elements of both types of ceremonies have blended into what we now think of as a Christening or a Baptism and the more modern variations will often allow for the inclusion of personal aspects that are important to you.

Baby Blessing Ceremonies

Baby Blessings are very popular for those who prefer a more secular approach and can include whatever you have in mind. From readings, songs, welcoming sentiments expressed by families and friends, even elements of Christenings and Baptisms, this ceremony celebrates your baby in any way that suits you best.
